JWallpapers v2.0.1 released |

 I'm pleased to announce the release of JWallpapers v2.0.1.
JWallpapers v2.0 features:
- Editor's picks.
- ACLs: control access, votes, downloads, uploads and tagging privileges of each Joomla group for each JWallpapers element.
- Tag clouds with frontend and backend AJAX tagging interfaces. Frontend tags and picture tagging proposals with moderation.
- Thumbnails and / or downloads watermarking.
- Independent menu items with independent layout settings.
- Frontend simultaneous uploads allowing users to upload up to five images at once (the number of file upload fields is configurable).
- The possibility to define resizes for each picture and for each category independently.
- A considerable amount of small to medium range settings and code improvements.
A few new modules were also developed for taking full advantage of these new and exciting features.

The date of the next major JWallpapers release is pushed back to the end of next month. Additionally to the features presented on my last v2.0 communicate, I have been performing a lot of core enhancements. I have also included watermarking for both thumbs and downloads, each of one can be turned off independently.
Right now I'm working on the new resizing engine which will allow to set resolutions in a global, per category and per picture basis. I decided to eliminate the asynchronous resizing mode since it complicates things while using this new scheme I'm working on. Resizes will always be handled in a synchronous way, i.e. generated on the fly the first time they are requested and then cached in the filesystem. I believe that this won't represent a problem for the great majority. Nonetheless, a PHP-CLI script for generating all the thumbnails and resizes at once might provided in the future for expert users.

 Imagine yourself selling photos displayed on your JWallpapers gallery by only granting download access to customers who bought the picture and / or album via VirtueMart. This would be nice uh ?, well I have wonderful news ... it is already done !.
A JWallpapers VirtueMart plugin have been developed for the integration of JWallpapers with VirtueMart. With this plugin and by creating VM products for JWallpapers items by following a very simple convention, JWallpapers will deny or grant download access based on the completed VM orders that the logged user have made on your site.

Last week I started working on the new features that will be introduced on the new JWallpapers release. This new release is mainly intended to fill some gasps that the application have been carrying since v1.0, some of which are: Independent menu items (already implemented) and ACLs (Access Control Lists).
Independent menu items (with consistent breadcrumbs) is one of the most significant contributions for this major release. In the current version, menu items are all tied to the JWallpapers main gallery menu item. JWallpapers menu items get redirected to their corresponding view on the main gallery menu item. The idea behind this scheme was to keep things simple while providing an unique but consistent gallery, i.e. all views pointing to the same menu item resulting on an unique but consistent breacrumb.

 Due to an important number of requests, I finally decided to take some time and develop a script to import a huge number of pictures to JWallpapers at once.
The script, is a PHP-CLI (Command Line Interpreter) script, that imports to your JWallpapers gallery a previously uploaded (via FTP for example) directory structure (category tree) containing pictures. The whole category tree represented by the provided directory structure will be recreated on JWallpapers. Pictures on each directory will be assigned to their corresponding JWallpapers categories.
